Detail from 1839 Waller Map,
Austin History Center.

This is the original design for the block we now know as the home of Pease Elementary School. Like the other blocks between 11th & 13th, this block is rectangular rather than square; it's drawn 276 feet wide and 340 feet long.

The streets on the west, south and east sides are 80 feet wide, like most streets downtown. On the block's north side, College Avenue (later known as 12th Street) is 120 feet wide -- the same width as Congress Avenue.
